Chequered Flag Stables Melbourne History
Symbol Lodge was built in 1990 to house the prize thoroughbreds of race horse owner Flloyd
Podgornic. Many prize thoroughbreds the likes of Paris Lane and Mahogany were stabled at
Symbol Lodge. Symbol Lodge was created with security and privacy being paramount in its
design.
In 1997 Symbol Lodge was modified to house thoroughbreds of a different kind. The stables
were modified to house classic cars, racing cars, classic motor cycles and racing bikes.
Cellars were created deep within the complex to cater for any size wine collection. Security
was further enhanced, and many steps taken to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
Facilities were installed to maintain and enhance the value of assets stored in the complex.
For the cellars, computerised temperature, humidity control and Individual lockable private
wine cabinets were crafted within the cellars. For long or short term dehumidified classic car
storage, such facilities as the rolling road, washing bay, hoist facilities and dehumidifiers
were installed. Symbol Lodge became Chequered Flag Stables as it is today.
